MTE #13: Novel Modalities for Hepatitis B–Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma Screening and Surveillance (Ticketed)
Fri, Nov 6, 2026 · 12:45–1:30 PM MST Convention Center: Room 1F, Colorado Convention Center
About this session
Hepatitis B virus (HBV)–related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains the most common complication of chronic HBV infection. Treatment with HBV antiviral therapy has been shown to reduce the risk of HCC but does not completely eliminate it. Currrent screening and surveillance strategies that require the use of abdominal ultrasound, with or without alpha-fetoprotein testing, are suboptimal. Therefore, novel approaches to HCC screening and surveillance are urgently needed in clincial practice.
