Practical Use(s) of AI for EDC Study Design and Build

Mon, Sep 29, 2025 · 5:15–6:15 PM EDT Room 341+342, Baltimore Convention Center

About this session

Session chaired by Michael Barrera
Description:
The concept of using AI to assist EDC study design and build has been presented and discussed for several years within the clinical research community. However, most of the discussion to date has been theoretical and/or limited in scope. AI holds much promise in dramatically improving user experience, shortening study build timelines, and driving higher-quality trials, but how, where, and when it is applied in the study build process is critical to success.
This session will explore use cases for inserting AI into the study build process, including differentiating between “nice to have” and high-value applied AI. It will provide insight into how AI can enhance peripheral study build activities such as testing and validation and promote better standards adoption and adherence. The session will also discuss what data assets are required to develop AI models and how those models are best utilized at the user experience level.
Attendees will gain insights into:
- Criteria for the selection of a process to be automated via AI
- Data considerations for AI models and functionality
- Navigating the use of AI with existing standards landscape
- User experience considerations
Join us to understand how AI can be effectively and responsibly integrated into EDC study design and build, enhancing both the speed and quality of clinical programs.
