Ben A van Hout, PhD

OPEN Health

Ben van Hout is Emeritus Professor of Health Economics at the University of Sheffield and a senior scientist within Open Health. In 2020 he was honoured with the ISPOR Avedis Donabedian Outcomes Research Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the field of HTA. He is one of the founding members of the EuroQol group, he introduced the cost effectiveness acceptability curve, he was one of the first to use discrete event simulation and he was one of the first to apply Bayesian methods within HTA.
