Optimizing Patient Centricity to Help Address the Global Enrollment Crisis
Wed, Oct 14, 2026 · 9:35–10:00 AM CEST InterContinental Barcelona
About this session
Global patient enrollment is arguably the largest operating challenge in clinical development contributing to longer study timelines, increased study costs and risk. This challenge is in part due to a shrinking pool of eligible patients, increasingly complex protocols and eligibility criteria, competition for patients across trials, limited patient awareness and access, and the burden of participation. This session presents hard evidence characterizing the current state of global enrollment and its root causes, and presents data on practical patient centric approaches improving protocol design and execution resulting in efficiencies and faster timelines. These approaches include agentic AI solutions, virtual and remote technologies, and efforts to address and amplify participant preferences.
