About this session
Session chaired by Tanya du Plessis
Description:
As Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning implementation looms on the horizon, Clinical Data Management stands at the brink of another technological revolution, therefore managing change and crisis effectively has become a necessity rather than an achievement.
This session focuses on highlighting the importance of these management concepts, as well as providing tools and tips to improve the implementation of these processes in a proactive and effective manner. The session will be structured as follows: Introduction: Learning from the past to prepare for the future. The session will take the audience on a journey through major changes in the clinical research industry, from the first recorded trial in 1747 to the introduction of the First Double-blind Controlled Trial in 1943, and the implementation of electronic clinical reporting in the 1980s. This historical overview will illustrate that change is inevitable, should be embraced, and managed rather than ignored and feared. The introduction will emphasize that to take advantage of the exciting opportunities in the AI revolution, three key elements need to be in place:
- Effective change management
- Concrete crisis control
