S0502 - Personalised Medicine: Challenges and Opportunities for the Integration in Product Development - Multi-stakeholder Views
Tue, Mar 18, 2025 · 3:10–4:20 PM CET Boston 1-2 Room, Congress Center Basel
About this session
Personalised medicines aim to tailor medical or preventive care to individual patient characteristics, utilising their genetic background and environment. Whilst the opportunities are clear, and positive advances have been seen in some therapeutic areas (e.g. psychiatry or oncology), the uptake remains slow, and the development and integration of truly personalised medicines raises a number of scientific, regulatory potentially ethical and social concerns. Simultaneously, the IVDR introduced new requirements that impact the development of PMs in the EU.
In this session, a panel of multistakeholder representatives from the European Medicines Agency, European Commission, Industry and academic innovative diagnostic sector will discuss the state of art, review initiatives to boost personalised medicine and the impact of the IVDR on the development of personalised medicines in the EU, as well as touching on opportunities and potential paths forward.
