S0409 - Latin America Townhall - The role of collaborative networks in strengthening regulatory systems in LATAM
Wed, Mar 19, 2025 · 4:50–6:00 PM CET Kairo 1-2 Room, Congress Center Basel
About this session
The evolution of regulatory systems in Latin America has been driven by progress in convergence, international cooperation, and the adoption of approaches such as reliance. However, regulatory disparity and variability in the implementation of these initiatives remain significant challenges. In this context, collaborative networks have emerged as key mechanisms to strengthen decision-making, enhance efficiency, and facilitate access to medical products in the region.
This session will bring together representatives from strategic networks - the EAMI Network represented in this session by AEMPS (Spanish Medicine Agency), the Pan American Network for Drug Regulatory Harmonization (PANDRH) represented by the Secretariat from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the industry voice from EFPIA Latin America Regulatory Network. They will share their experiences and perspectives on how cooperation among regulatory agencies, international organizations, and industry is advancing the development of more efficient and sustainable regulatory frameworks in Latin America. The discussion will highlight success stories, lessons learned, and opportunities to strengthen synergies among these networks, aiming to promote more agile, transparent, and internationally aligned regulatory systems.
